As a result of the close collaboration between APDL, SA (Port Authority of Douro and Leixões), LEIXÕES CUSTOMS HOUSE and TCL - TERMINAL DE CONTENTORES DE LEIXÕES, SA, as part of the SCOPe project, which involves the Leixões Port Community and the General Director of Customs and Excise on Consumption, it is now possible to provide this kind of information. As well as being a pioneering project in Europe, it allows information to be obtained as to the customs situation of the containers, in advance of the scheduled unloading time, thus significantly facilitating and reducing the disembarkation time.
The SCOPe project aims essentially to replace the bureaucracy of the current manifest with the ELECTRONIC MANIFEST, making it compatible with the B/L (BILL OF LADING).
In addition to this service, the recent concentration and computerisation of the ports have simplified the port processes at the Port of Leixões, eliminating the surplus of bureaucratic paper documents linked to the dispatch of goods, thus leading to quicker and easier departure of lorries.
